description:
Learn the foundations of teaching yoga and mindfulness to young children (ages 2-8)! Children learn best through the magic of play. By weaving the elements of play: curiosity, wonder, and imagination, into our classes, we can more effectively (and joyfully!) teach the practices of yoga and mindfulness.
Yoga for kids offers opportunities for connection (with self and others), empathy, self-love, spatial and emotional awareness, self-regulation, and so much more.
Join Jana Gunby, of Heartwell Yoga, for a three day training designed to explore the foundational aspects of teaching yoga to young children: Child development, Asana (Yoga Postures), Pranayama (Breathwork), Relaxation, and using Storytelling, Music, and Props to create engaging classes. We will learn how to integrate the eight limbs of yoga into teaching younger populations and learn how to structure a children’s yoga class. Additionally, we will also enjoy guest lectures on sensory processing from a pediatric OT and children’s anatomy and physical development from a pediatric PT.
With many years as an early childhood classroom teacher, and over twelve years of experience teaching yoga to adults, children, and families, and additional training in trauma informed teaching, yoga for diverse abilities, and family yoga, Jana has created a yoga program for children that is inclusive, nature-inspired, and heart centered.
